New wildlife habitats for the Park

Thanks to a successful grant application to Colney Heath Parish Council and a donation from the St Albans 4th Brownies group, after a bat night, we have been able to purchase some new homes for birds, bats and reptiles in the park.

These include:

4  Reptile profile sheets which will go out in the Spring.

2     Woodcrete Swift boxes

6     Eco small bird boxes and 2 Woodcrete Oval nest boxes, we think these would work well in the secondary woodland to the south-west of the Winchfield ancient woodland, as well as the secondary woodland around the Village Green. They will be sited away from paths and be on healthy mature trees that have a good bit of space around them

2    bat boxes which have not arrived yet but are on their way hopefully in time to provide protection for the hibernating bats over the winter period.

and

3 bird feeders which we will position close to the Visitor centre and bird garden

Our thanks to Colney Heath Parish Council and the St Albans 4th Brownies group.
