On the evening of July 24th 2019, representatives of Highfield Park Trust and the Architect group Roger Mears Architects collected a Commendation from the St Albans Civic Society for the Highfield Park Visitor Centre.
The Commendation was in the ‘community’ category, the main award was won by the old town hall refurbishment. so we were very pleased.
Around 50 buildings / projects were nominated and of those there were the two main prizes (the other is for restoration) and 7 or 8 commendations .
Some of our Trustees had a major input into the design ensuring that some of the stand out features were incorporated, the gardens were also put together by trustees with plants from their gardens. The trees were bought with a locality grant from local councillor Dreda Gordon.
We include below the timeline of getting the build to completion which has been a long determined process but we are really pleased with the result and the number of community groups that are now using the building.
We hope you agree it is a fantastic addition to our Park with the vision of the Highfield Park Trust.
