Trustee (Conservation) Required

Highfield Park Trust is now looking for a volunteer Trustee to join its Park Management Committee and Board of Trustees.

Highfield Park has become a much-loved venue for many people in St. Albans and beyond. The Trust has established an excellent reputation for its work and the community benefit that it delivers. We are a vibrant organisation with many exciting and challenging plans.

The primary role of a Trustee is to ensure that the Charity is properly managed, and this is the first
requirement of the position. Thereafter, Trustees support our continued development by working with all relevant stakeholders to progress our aims and objectives. You would be joining at an exciting time and your commitment will directly contribute to our future success.

The Park is a rural park and is now 82 acres in size. It contains woodland, amenity land, parkland orchards, ponds and allotments. There are play areas and more formal gardens.

The Trust is conservation minded and is now looking to appoint a Trustee with a keen interest in natural history to help shape our future operations and ecology.

Since we are a public open space and enjoyed by many people pursuing many different interests, you will have to be pragmatic in your approach, but the successful candidate will be able to make a positive difference to the biodiversity in the Park.

The Trust also runs a high-quality programme of family orientated fun events. Where possible, we ask that Trustees make themselves available to support our events, specifically Apple Day which is held early in October and is our biggest fundraising event of the year. The Trust also hosts third-party events such as Luna Cinema and Opera Anywhere.

It is not a requirement that you have a relevant qualification, but you should have a keen, demonstratable interest in natural history and be prepared to make a difference.

This might be an opportunity to gain Board level experience working with an enthusiastic team or you may have that experience already and have the time to share your experience with others.

Whatever your situation is, Highfield Park Trust would like to hear from you.

In the first instance please apply to Richard Bull, Park Manager and Company Secretary, no later than Sunday 10th April. For an informal chat, please contact Richard on 01727 847242. Applicants should submit a CV with a covering letter to admin@highfieldparktrust.co.uk. Thank you for your interest in Highfield Park Trust.
