St Albans MP Daisy Cooper visits Highfield Park

It was fabulous to welcome our local MP, Daisy Cooper, to the Park this morning.

We had a fast paced agenda and discussed a wide range of topics including the history of the Park, its biodivisity and our attempts to improve the flora and fauna, our events programme and the impact of Covid-19. We were able to raise the recent issues of ASB and crime and also talked of the issues we face and opportunities for the future. It was a very productive and worthwhile discussion.

The picture shows Daisy Cooper, flanked by Richard Bull, Park Manager, Joe Gray, Trustee and Chair of the Park Management Committee, Jamie Day, Trustee and Representative of St Albans and District Counci and Tim Abbott, Trustee and Chair of Highfield Park Trust.

Following our discussions we were then able to take her on a short tour, point out our crumbling path network and more positively, the ongoing development of Hither Wood. We noted that we could no longer see the Beacon from the new, small car park as the trees have grown so well. Daisy was incredibly receptive to our ideas and has asked us to ensure that she remains appraised of some us our work.

Thank you Daisy for taking the time to come and visit us!
