Bat Nights run by Highfield Park Trust
After training by the Bat Conservation Trust, we now run our own Bat nights at Highfield.

After an introduction to the UK bat species at the Visitor Centre, we go out into the Park at dusk to find our bats. At night, bats send out pulses of sound and listen to the echoes bouncing back from trees or insects. These act as a torch of sound to give them a picture of their surroundings. Humans can usually only hear these echolocation calls by using a device called a bat detector. The Trust has six of these bat detectors to share out on our Bat nights and hope to source some more through grants.
