The theme of the 2020 Maltings Art Prize competition was “History of St Albans”. The competition saw pupils from 13 local schools compete for the chance to win a cash prize for their school’s art department and a prize for the overall winner.
Rosie Bomphrey was the Oakwood Primary School’s winner with her fine work illustrating Hill End Station, when it was still open.
The figures on the platform suggest this was during the WW2 years when St Bartholomew’s Hospital surgeons and staff took over Hill End Hospital.
The Trust would like to congratulate Rosie and aim to one day soon be able to display a copy of the picture at the Visitor Centre.
