Summer Fete 2012
Highfield Park run its fourth summer fete on Saturday 21st July with over 1800 people enjoying a little respite from the rain that has been our summer.
There were some old favourites including, donkey rides, miniature steam train, coconut shy, Karate and a wide variety of craft stalls, not forgetting the Highfield Park tombola. In addition Charters Health Club ran a series of traditional sports day events on the village green, including another old favourite the 'egg and sppon race'.
This year we welcomed entertainment from Street dancers and belly dancers and a clown from Bezerkaz Circus.
Thank you to all those who gave generously including our sponsors Colney Heath Parish Council, Debenhams Ottaway, St Albans City Youth Football Club and AT Bone Sports Solutions, all those who advertised in the programme and of course all the people who attended and donated to us. We have raised enough money this year to complete our long term project at the Hill End Garden of Rest. You can see some pictures of the recently erected oak arch and shortly this will be joined by of two interpretation boards to enable all visitors to the Garden of Rest to appreciated its history.
